The Coptic Evangelical Organization Concludes the Second Phase of the “Volunteer for Yourself… and by Yourself” Initiative

Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki:
“Volunteering contributes to building people and strengthening the values of belonging.”
“Young people possess great potential capable of creating impact within society.”
“We continue to support initiatives that open real spaces for community participation.”
“Building the capacities of volunteers is a true investment in a better future.”

The National Development Initiatives and Volunteering Unit of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services announced the conclusion of the second phase of the “Volunteer for Yourself… and by Yourself” initiative. The initiative aims to promote a culture of volunteering among young people in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyubia, and Minya, with the participation of 229 male and female volunteers aged 20 to 35, through the implementation of six youth meetings.

Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt and President of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, affirmed that the organization believes in the importance of volunteering as one of the tools for building people and strengthening the spirit of belonging and social responsibility. He noted that the initiative seeks to empower young people, discover their abilities, and develop their skills through active participation in serving the community.

Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki added that young people possess great potential capable of creating a positive impact within society. He affirmed the organization’s continued support for initiatives that open real spaces for community participation and capacity building.

The second phase included youth meetings that brought together young men and women to raise awareness of the importance of volunteering and create spaces for dialogue, interaction, and the exchange of experiences. Five WhatsApp communication groups were also established to connect volunteers with the Coptic Evangelical Organization’s team, contributing to the exchange of information, experience, and knowledge related to community service and volunteer work.

The third phase of the initiative is scheduled to include the governorates of Sohag, Beheira, and Beni Suef, as part of the organization’s plan to expand and reach a larger number of young people, while also benefiting from the competencies and experiences that emerged from the meetings, particularly in the fields of training, capacity building, and community facilitation.

The organization also continues to cooperate with its network of volunteer leaders, which includes around 7,500 male and female volunteers. It is also strengthening partnerships with several entities, including the Arab Federation for Voluntary Activities, the National Council for Women, and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency, to support training and capacity-building programs, thereby enhancing the role of volunteering in serving society and achieving sustainable development.
