I Have Known the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Nearly 30 Years and Have Followed Its Development Impact in Upper Egypt
Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt and President of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, received Mr. Robert Silverman, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo; Mr. Chris Torres, Political Attaché at the U.S. Embassy; and Mr. Shehab Wagih, Policy Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services.
The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Momtaz Beshay, Vice President of the Coptic Evangelical Organization; Ms. Samira Luka, Head of the Dialogue Sector; Sheikh Essam Wassef, Director of Public Relations; Ms. Lucia Rabat, Director of the President’s Office; Mr. Youssef Talaat, Legal Adviser to the Presidency of the Evangelical Community in Egypt; and Mr. Youssef Edward, Media Director at the Coptic Evangelical Organization.
The meeting addressed several issues related to development, community dialogue, and the role of institutions and civil society organizations. Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki also reviewed the activities of the Evangelical Church within Egyptian society and the development role carried out by the Coptic Evangelical Organization through its programs in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and peacebuilding, as well as through its national and international partnerships.
Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki affirmed that the Evangelical Church carries out its spiritual and social mission as an integral part of the nation’s social fabric, working to serve people and promote the values of citizenship and acceptance of others.
The President of the Evangelical Community added: “Egypt’s progress in consolidating the values of citizenship and supporting peaceful coexistence reflects a clear national vision. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s positions have contributed to affirming these principles and strengthening their presence in Egyptian society, thereby supporting national unity and safeguarding the right of all citizens to participate in building the nation.”
For his part, Mr. Robert Silverman, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, expressed his appreciation for the role of the Evangelical Church and the Coptic Evangelical Organization in serving Egyptian society, praising the organization’s development and community programs and initiatives.
He noted that his relationship with the organization spans nearly 30 years, enabling him to follow the development of its programs and their impact on local communities, particularly in the governorates of Upper Egypt.
He affirmed that the organization represents an effective model that combines development work with building bridges of dialogue, while supporting participation and social cohesion.
