President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt Meets the Governor of Sohag at the Start of His Tour of Upper Egypt

Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt and President of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, met today, Wednesday, with Major General Tarek Rashid, Governor of Sohag, at the governorate headquarters, at the start of his tour of the governorates of Upper Egypt. The meeting came within the framework of strengthening joint action and supporting the culture of development and community work in Sohag Governorate.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Kamal Suleiman, Deputy Governor of Sohag, along with a number of executive and community leaders in the governorate.
The delegation accompanying the President of the Evangelical Community included Rev. Amir Tharwat, Moderator of the Synod of the Nile; Rev. Mousa Akladios, former Moderator of the Synod of the Nile and Pastor of the Church of Mashta; Dr. Rev. Estefanos Zaki, President of the Council of Educational Institutions of the Synod; Dr. Rev. Maged Karam, Secretary-General of the Schools of the Synod of the Nile; Rev. Youssef Mounir, Head of the Sohag Presbytery of the Synod of the Nile; Elder Hani Sobhy, member of the General Evangelical Council; Elder Nasser Sadeq, member of the General Evangelical Council; and Rev. Michael Yacoub, Pastor of the Evangelical Church in Sohag, in addition to a number of Evangelical Community leaders from the General Evangelical Council and leaders of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services.
The Governor of Sohag welcomed the President of the Evangelical Community and the accompanying delegation, praising the national and societal role played by the Evangelical Community and its various institutions in supporting the values of citizenship, social peace, and community service. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between state institutions and civil society to achieve sustainable development and support citizens.
Major General Tarek Rashid, Governor of Sohag, said: “We welcome the visit of Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt, and his accompanying delegation to Sohag Governorate, and we affirm our appreciation for the national and societal role played by the Evangelical Community and its institutions in supporting Egyptian society.”
For his part, Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, affirming the Evangelical Community’s keenness to cooperate with various state institutions in a way that supports development efforts, builds people, and strengthens the values of belonging and joint national action.
The President of the Evangelical Community said: “We value the national relations that bring us together with Egyptian state institutions, and we believe in the importance of integration between civil society institutions and executive bodies in supporting development and serving citizens. Our visit to Sohag Governorate, at the start of our tour of Upper Egypt, affirms the Evangelical Community’s commitment to active presence across different governorates and to supporting all efforts that contribute to building people and strengthening the values of citizenship and belonging.”
He added: “We appreciate the genuine cooperation and openness we witness from the governorate’s leadership, which reflects a responsible national spirit that supports stability and joint action for a better future for all.”
During the meeting, the delegation of Evangelical Community leaders reviewed the educational activities of Al-Amana Schools, affiliated with the Synod of the Nile, in addition to following up on the latest developments in educational work and services in the governorate. Leaders of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services also reviewed the organization’s key activities in Sohag Governorate, particularly in the areas of supporting the “Ezraa” initiative, participating in “Decent Life” projects, local development programs, empowering and supporting persons with disabilities, and efforts to promote dialogue, coexistence, and the values of citizenship.
