The Forum for Intercultural Dialogue launches the “Peace Café” initiative to promote dialogue and citizenship among youth
The Forum for Intercultural Dialogue at the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services launched an initiative entitled “Peace Café”, aimed at strengthening the values of citizenship and dialogue among young people. The initiative was organized in cooperation with the Creativity Center of the Cultural Development Fund and the Higher Institute of Social Work in Cairo, and hosted at the historic Amir Taz Palace.
The initiative targeted around 100 young men and women from the institute’s students and graduates. Its program included a variety of activities, most notably “Our Identity in Our Culture and Our National Belonging”, which featured field visits to several historical and religious landmarks such as Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque, the Coptic Museum, the Hanging Church, and the Jewish Synagogue.
On the second day, the initiative hosted a thought-provoking debate on the topic “Globalization: For or Against”, with the participation of a group of intellectuals and media professionals. It also included interactive dialogue sessions where students were divided into working groups to foster the values of dialogue and freedom of expression, under the supervision of the Forum’s Peace Ambassadors.
