“The National Alliance launches the second phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative from Mansoura, with the participation of the Evangelical Authority and the attendance of 7,000 participants.”
Under the umbrella of the National Alliance for Civil Work and Development, the Evangelical Coptic Authority for Social Services organized today, Thursday, in Mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate, the second mass celebration to launch the second phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative, in the presence of Dr. Nahla Talaat Abdel-Qawi, Secretary-General of the National Alliance for Civil Work and Development, and Ms. Margaret Sarofim, Head of the Local Development Sector at the Evangelical Coptic Authority for Social Services, and Major General Ayman Abdel Aal Sharif, Secretary-General of Dakahlia Governorate, and Dr. Tarek Salah, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, with the aim of developing small farmers and expanding the cultivation of agricultural land in the northern part of the first-phase provinces, including Fayoum, Qalyubia, Beheira, and Dakahlia, in addition to the new-phase provinces, including Giza, Sharkia, and Menoufia, with the presence of approximately 7,000 participants.
This activity comes as a continuation of the ‘Plant’ initiative, on the occasion of the achievement that was made in reaching the targets of the first phase regarding wheat production and reaching 100,000 farmers and the cultivation of 150,000 acres of wheat. It also marks the launch of the new phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative, which targets 500,000 farmers and the cultivation of one million acres of wheat.
During her speech, the Secretary-General of the National Alliance for Civil Work and Development expressed her great happiness with this large public gathering. She said, “We are proud of the achievement of farmers in the first phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative and the great success in cultivating 150,000 acres of wheat. We are all confident of achieving the plan in the second phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative, which is to cultivate one million acres of wheat. We also thank the Evangelical Coptic Authority, which played a significant role and made great efforts in the success of the first phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative. We are committed to continue in the second phase to reach 500,000 farmers from all governorates of the republic.”
Ms. Margaret Sarofim, Head of the Local Development Sector at the Evangelical Coptic Authority for Social Services, said, “Our dream in achieving the plan in the first phase has become a reality, and we are committed to working in the second phase of the ‘Plant’ initiative to achieve the bigger dream of reaching 500,000 farmers and cultivating one million acres of wheat. The National Alliance is doing great work in coordinating the efforts of civil society institutions to achieve good for Egyptians and our beloved country.”
The National Alliance for Civil Work celebrated, in collaboration with the Evangelical Coptic Authority for Social Services, on June 7th, in Minya Governorate at the Etsa Center, a meeting dedicated to the Upper Egypt governorates of the first phase, which include Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, and Sohag, in addition to the new-phase provinces, including Qena, Aswan, New Valley, with the presence of approximately ten thousand participants in the event.
