CEOSS on the International Volunteers Day: We believe that volunteering is vital in implementing field development programs

The Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services participated in the celebration of the International Volunteers Day, along with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the United Nations Volunteers Office in Egypt, under the slogan “We volunteer for our common future.”

Margaret Saroufim, head of the Local Development Sector at the Coptic Evangelical Organization, said: “About five thousand male and female volunteers participate in the activities of the Evangelical Organization. These volunteers are involved in the implementation of our development projects and activities in the various governorates we work in. This comes from the Evangelical Organization’s belief in the value of volunteering and volunteer work, which is vital in implementing field development programs.”

Saroufim added: “In today’s celebration, the Evangelical Organization, with a number of its volunteers, presented an important set of interactive activities, including teaching sign language to deaf and dumb people as an important language for communication. This activity was exceptional and opened the window for ordinary people to enter the world of people with disabilities and communicate with them. Also one of the volunteers gave a presentation on how to make statues and decorative pieces from porcelain, and how women can master crafts that increase income and improve the standard of living. In addition to presenting materials and distributing awareness booklets in the exhibition of CEOSS, which were produced as part of its various activities to face the negative impacts of the spread of the Corona virus. Along the distribution of the awareness booklets, coloring booklets to raise awareness for children were distributed, which include meaningful stories for children, as well as important booklets in the field of agriculture and about dealing with people with disabilities, with the aim of spreading knowledge and exchanging experiences in development fields.”
