A Humanitarian Message from Alexandria: The President of the Evangelical Community Emphasizes the Importance of Empowering People with Disabilities in Society

The President of the Evangelical Community Participates in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities Celebration at the Library of Alexandria

Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki:

  • “Supporting people with disabilities is a genuine expression of humanity and the values of equality we strive to instill in our society.”
  • “The Egyptian state believes that building individuals is the foundation for building the nation.”
  • “The partnership between civil society and the state is an effective model for enhancing the rights of people with disabilities and ensuring their empowerment as key partners in development.”

Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt and head of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, participated in a celebration organized by the Village of Hope Association for Development and Social Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Library of Alexandria, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including:

  • Dr. Nada Alfy Thabet, Chairperson of the Association and Member of Parliament
  • Ms. Margret Sarofim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity
  • Major General Ahmed Mahmoud Habib, Assistant Secretary-General of Alexandria Governorate, representing Governor Major General Ahmed Khaled
  • Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, Director of the Directorate of Education in Alexandria
  • Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim El-Gamal, Director of Preaching and Guidance at Al-Azhar and Secretary of the Egyptian Family House
  • Dr. Yousry El-Gamal, former Minister of Education

Additionally, several executive leaders and public figures attended the celebration.

During the event, Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki delivered a speech in which he stated:
“Supporting people with disabilities is a genuine expression of humanity and the values of equality we strive to instill in our society. I commend the role of the Egyptian state in supporting people with disabilities, which has made significant strides in this area thanks to the vision of political leadership that believes building individuals is the foundation for building the nation.”

He added, “The partnership between civil society and the state is an effective model for enhancing the rights of people with disabilities and ensuring their empowerment as key partners in development.”

The celebration also included special artistic performances, most notably the operetta “Innocence and Simplicity,” along with honoring theatrical teams and participating artists.
