CEOSS organizes a collective iftar in 8 governorates throughout the month of Ramadan

Qalyubia As part of the membership of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) in the National Alliance for Civil and Developmental Work, on Thursday, April 7th, the CEOSS organized an iftar for 1500 farmers in the “Plant” initiative in Qalyubia Governorate. The event was attended by a number of executive and popular leaders in the governorate, including Dr. Talaat Abdel-Qawi, President of the General Union of Associations, Ms. Margaret Sarofim, Head of the Local Development Sector at CEOSS, Dr. Eman Ryan, Deputy Governor of Qalyubia, Dr. Sameer Hammad, Deputy Governor of Qalyubia, Dr. Hoda Jalal Yassa, Head of the Arab Women Investors Union, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Moshtohor Dr. Mahmoud El-Zaabalawi, a number of faculty members and students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Mr. Adel Amer, a member of the Egyptian Parliament, Dr. Freddy El-Beheiry, a member of the Egyptian Parliament, Mr. Medhat El-Kammar, a member of Parliament, Eng. Mahmoud El-Garahy, founder of El-Garahy Foundation and member of the National Alliance for Civil and Developmental Work, and Sheikh Samir Gaballah, Director of Peace Schools in Baniha and member of the General Evangelical Council, as well as a number of members of Parliament, the Shura Council, and ministry representatives in the governorate.

During the iftar, Dr. Talaat Abdel-Qawi, President of the General Union of Associations and Civil Society Organizations, said: “36 entities under the National Alliance aim to provide direct interventions worth 14 billion pounds to the most vulnerable families within one year through medical services, small and medium-sized projects, food meals, and support for farmers.”

A number of farmers in the “Plant” initiative also participated in the event, expressing their gratitude for the agricultural services provided to them and requesting further expansion of the “Plant” initiative to include support for small farmers in corn and other crops in addition to wheat and soybeans.

Minya As part of its membership in the National Alliance for Civil and Developmental Work, the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) organized a breakfast on Monday, April 9th for 2500 farmers participating in the “Azrak” initiative in Minya governorate. The event was attended by several executive and popular leaders in the governorate, as well as Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud, the Deputy Governor of Minya, and Ms. Margaret Sarofim, Head of the Local Development Sector at CEOSS, in addition to members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, ministers’ representatives, executive leaders in the governorate, and local supporters of the “Azrak” initiative. The breakfast was held at CEOSS’s training center in Etsa.

Ms. Margaret Sarofim, Head of the Local Development Sector at CEOSS, said: “The organization continues to provide its services in other “Azrak” governorates. Tomorrow, 5000 farmers will be provided breakfast in Fayoum, Assiut, and Dakahlia, and during Ramadan, CEOSS will carry out several other activities to reach as many deserving citizens as possible, in addition to completing the “Azrak” initiative.”

During the breakfast, Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud, the Deputy Governor of Minya, expressed his great pleasure in this national event and said, “Today, Minya is witnessing sincere national work that reflects the ability of the National Alliance and the Coptic Evangelical Organization to provide real services to citizens.”
