Al-Kabbaj: The developmental history of the Evangelical Organization testifies that it has a national role… and its multiple schools have brought out leaders and generations serving in all walks of life.
Zaki: We appreciate the ministry’s great role in upgrading the development work system in Egypt… and the civil society organizations are living their golden age
Mrs. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, minister of Social Solidarity, received Reverend Dr. Andrea Zaki, head of the Evangelical community in Egypt and head of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, and his accompanying delegation, at the Ministry of Social Solidarity headquarters.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ayman Abdel Mawgod, assistant minister for Civil Work Institutions Affairs; Dr. Mervat Sabreen, assistant minister for Protection and Social Safety Nets, and a delegation of leaders of the Evangelical Organization, including Ms. Samira Louka, senior head of the Dialogue Sector; and Ms. Margaret Saroufim, head of the Local Development Sector; and Mr. Basem Badie, Head of the Financial Affairs Sector.
Mrs. Nevin Al-Kabbaj welcomed the head of the Evangelical Organization, and the accompanying delegation, and congratulated him on the occasion of Christmas, expressing her happiness for the visit and affirming the appreciation of the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s of the developmental history of the Evangelical Organization and its national and developmental role, and her feeling of pride in the Evangelical Organization’s influential activity in Egyptian societies, adding: “Its multiple schools have produced leaders and generations who serve in all walks of life.”
For his part, the head of the Evangelical community stressed his great appreciation for the role of the Ministry of Solidarity in upgrading the development work system in Egypt, adding: “We feel great pride in the activity of the Ministry of Solidarity at the current period and its tangible contributions to national projects.”
Rev. Andre Zaki pointed out that “the political leadership has spared no effort in the continuous development and construction processes that contribute to a real shift in the renaissance of modern Egypt,” adding that “the Ministry of Social Solidarity is making every effort in various development programs and projects, and that it is constantly communicating with local communities.” This contributes to achieving a real change in the lives of the most vulnerable groups.”
The two sides presented means of cooperation in all fields, including economic empowerment, especially in rural areas, provision of rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities, expansion of early detection centers, in addition to intensifying work in the field of early childhood and protecting children who are without caregivers.
They also discussed cooperation in the cultural field, highlighting the opening of channels of community dialogue and the spreading of a culture of respecting the differences on one basis, which is citizenship, whether inside or outside Egypt, with the importance of documenting and sharing the development and human rights achievements achieved by the state in all its institutions.
It is noteworthy that the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services in Egypt, headed by Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, is one of the Egyptian civil society organizations, and since its establishment in 1950 until today, it pays great attention to the human-being with no regard to color, gender or doctrine. For its mission revolves around the human-being and it seeks improving the quality of life of the neediest citizens in society that are entitled to care the most.
