The Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) has organized, today, Sunday, a meeting with its development partners under the title of “Together to Eradicate Poverty” coinciding with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, scheduled, by the United Nations, to be held annually on October 17 of each year. Participating in the meeting were leaders from the Ministry of Social Solidarity and a large crowd of leaders of community development foundations and organizations as well as a number of leaders from the ministries of workforce, health, education and media.
The opening speech and the message of Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical community in Egypt and Director of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, was presented by Ms. Margaret Saroufim, head of the Local Development Sector at the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services. The speech of the General Federation of NGOs was given by Dr. Talat Abdel Qawy, MP and Head of the General Federation of NGOs. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Cairo, also gave a speech.
During the meeting, live testimonies were presented that represent successful and inspiring examples of successful projects implemented by both CEOSS and its partner organizations in local communities in various governorates. Examples are projects in employment, resilient rural communities project, disability, and with children at risk. Also presented were CEOSS’ most important achievements in various development fields during the years 2020 and 2021 -an achievement and success for the organization and its partners- as well as its in institutional support and capacity building of civil society organizations, social incubators and local mentors. Partner organizations working with the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services were honored.
Since its establishment in the 1950s, the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services has been striving to improve the quality of life for the most needy and vulnerable citizens in the governorates of Egypt, without any discrimination based on religion, creed, or gender, as well as seriously contributing to eradicating poverty. While doing so CEOSS works on preserving the environment, and working together to confront climate change and mitigate its negative effects on citizens. We fully believe in the authenticity of the developmental and societal role of the Egyptian state in supporting and building the Egyptian citizen, and contributing to laying the foundations for a decent life. For this reason, we affirm our pride and appreciation for the insistence and follow-up of the political leadership in achieving the aspirations of Egyptians through the largest and most comprehensive of presidential initiatives, namely, the “Decent Life” Initiative. This initiative is concerned with the development of the Egyptian countryside and its results have started to appear on the various segments of Egyptian society. We pray for our dear country Egypt for whom we will always strive to achieve the best in cooperation with all our partners who are all supporting the Egyptian state and its institutions, under the auspices of our loyal patriotic political leadership.
