Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt and President of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS), witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta and CEOSS during the closing session of the 11th International Fatwa Conference.
The conference was held under the theme, “Family Challenges Amid Major Transformations: A Fatwa-Based Approach to Protecting the Family, Anticipating Its Future, and Preserving Identity,” under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The event was attended by Grand Mufti of Egypt Prof. Dr. Nazir Ayyad and Minister of Religious Endowments Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, who attended on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, alongside a distinguished group of scholars, muftis, and researchers from around the world.
Representing CEOSS were Mr. Momtaz Beshay, Vice President of CEOSS; Ms. Samira Luka, Head of the Dialogue Sector at CEOSS; and a number of senior CEOSS leaders.
Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki stressed that the protocol builds on the cooperation and dialogue that have brought the two institutions together over the past period.
He noted that the significance of the protocol lies in its ability to transform dialogue into action, expressing his hope that the partnership will serve as an advanced model of cooperation that places the Egyptian people at the forefront of its objectives.
The protocol reflects CEOSS’s commitment to promoting the principles of citizenship and peaceful coexistence, fostering a culture of dialogue, strengthening acceptance of others, confronting extremist ideas and hate speech, and supporting national efforts to build a cohesive society based on mutual respect and acceptance of cultural and religious diversity.
These efforts come within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development.
