The Forum for Intercultural Dialogue at the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS), in cooperation with the Coptic Museum affiliated with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, organized the “A New Image” initiative under the slogan “Get to Know One Another, Understand One Another.”
The initiative brought together 120 university students, along with representatives from religious, media, academic, and civil society institutions, as part of the “Active Citizenship for Social Peace” project.
The initiative aimed to challenge stereotypes and preconceived judgments among young people by creating safe spaces for dialogue and direct interaction. It sought to promote mutual understanding, acceptance of diversity, active citizenship, and social cohesion.
The initiative was one of the practical outcomes of a training program implemented by the Forum. A team of young participants took the lead in designing the initiative, planning its activities, and facilitating its sessions, putting into practice the knowledge and skills they had acquired during the training.
Through this youth-led approach, participants were able to share their experiences with others and expand the initiative’s impact within the wider community.
The activities included a guided tour of the Coptic Museum, interactive art workshops, dialogue sessions, and the “Get to Know One Another, Understand One Another” activity, which encouraged participants to reflect on stereotypes and preconceived judgments and explore broader areas of mutual understanding and connection.
The initiative highlighted the importance of dialogue and direct interaction in building trust among young people and promoting coexistence and acceptance of diversity, contributing to stronger social peace and cohesion.
