The Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) has signed a cooperation agreement to establish a drinking water desalination and treatment plant in the Salama Ali community in Samalout, Minya Governorate. The agreement forms part of CEOSS’s ongoing efforts to support local communities and improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Momtaz Beshay, Vice President of CEOSS; Dr. Bassem El-Sahhar, CEO of ATX Pros Consulting; Ms. Suzanne Sedky, Director of Local Development at CEOSS; Mr. Fathy Abdallah Hassan, Treasurer of the Local Community Development Association in Ezbet Salama Ali; Mr. Rami Ali, Project Manager; Ms. Magda Ramzy, Director of Development Sites in Upper Egypt; Ms. Soheir Aziz, Director of Development Sites in Lower Egypt at CEOSS; Mr. Youssef Edward, Media Director at CEOSS; Mr. Nabil Ezzat, Director of Programs and Grants at CEOSS; Ms. Nancy Atef, Deputy Director of Finance; Mr. Amir Samir, Head of Environment and Agriculture Programs at CEOSS; and Ms. Magda Maguid, CEOSS Representative in Minya Governorate.
The agreement brings together ATX Pros Consulting as the supporting entity, CEOSS as the supervising organization and development partner, and the Local Community Development Association in Ezbet Salama Ali as the beneficiary. The association has also donated the plot of land on which the plant will be constructed.
Mr. Momtaz Beshay, Vice President of CEOSS, said that the establishment of the drinking water desalination and treatment plant represents an important model of development partnership and a direct response to the basic needs of local communities.
He stressed that access to clean and safe water is among the most essential needs affecting people’s health and quality of life, adding that CEOSS continues to implement development projects that respond to the actual needs of communities.
Beshay also highlighted the importance of cooperation among different partners in achieving meaningful and sustainable development impact.
Dr. Bassem El-Sahhar, CEO of ATX Pros Consulting, said the company’s contribution to the project reflects its commitment to corporate social responsibility and to supporting initiatives that have a direct and tangible impact on people’s lives.
He noted that the project responds to a real need within the Salama Ali community and expressed his appreciation for the partnership with CEOSS and the Local Community Development Association, which will help ensure the successful implementation of the project and the achievement of its objectives.
Ms. Suzanne Sedky, Director of Local Development at CEOSS, said the project addresses a fundamental need within the Salama Ali community, explaining that access to safe drinking water contributes to protecting public health, supporting development efforts, and improving the living conditions of families and vulnerable groups.
She added that local development is based on understanding the real needs of communities and working together with residents and partners to develop practical and sustainable solutions, noting that the project reflects this approach.
Mr. Fathy Abdallah Hassan, Treasurer of the Local Community Development Association in Ezbet Salama Ali, said the association was keen to support the project by providing the land on which the plant will be built.
He stressed that local communities are essential partners in development projects aimed at improving the lives of their residents, adding that the project is of great importance to the people of Salama Ali.
He also expressed his appreciation to all organizations and partners that contributed to turning the community’s need into a practical project serving local residents.
Mr. Rami Ali, Project Manager, said the plant will be established according to a plan designed to provide residents with clean, safe, and treated drinking water.
He emphasized the importance of coordination among all parties throughout the implementation stages to ensure the project achieves its intended objectives, noting that cooperation among the supporting entity, CEOSS, and the Local Community Development Association is a key factor in the project’s success and sustainability.
Ms. Magda Ramzy, Director of Development Sites in Upper Egypt at CEOSS, said the project reflects the importance of integrated development work in rural communities.
She explained that providing a safe and sustainable source of drinking water is an important step toward improving quality of life and strengthening the social and economic stability of local residents.
She also noted that the participation of the local community, together with the contributions of the project’s partners, will enhance the project’s sustainability and its ability to achieve the intended development impact.
