Braille, sign language, speech programs, and ways to make public places accessible are the most prominent inputs of CEOSS.

The Local Development Unit (DEV) of CEOSS participated in “the Initiators” congress and exhibition in its second edition entitled “Assistive Tools and Technologies for Persons with Disabilities” 2023, which is the annual congress for persons with disabilities under the auspices of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

At the exhibition, CEOSS shared its expertise in the field of creating an enabling environment for inclusion of persons with disabilities within the Egyptian society, and removing environmental obstacles through the application of accessibility models within public institutions and Egyptian universities to apply the Egyptian accessibility code, and provide aids and motor devices through “Irada” Factory.

For her part, Margaret Sarofim, head of DEV at CEOSS, said, “CEOSS is working to provide information for persons with visual and hearing impairment, and with intellectual disabilities through the use of speech programs, Braille, sign language, and the easy reading method for intellectual disabilities. CEOSS also provides a training for persons with visual impairment to learn Braille, and speech programs, and another training for persons with hearing impairment to learn sign language.”

During the exhibition, CEOSS also presented ways to make accessible the public places frequented by persons with visual impairment, in addition to providing restaurant menus in Braille and spreading public awareness through brochures designed in Braille to raise awareness during the Corona pandemic.

The exhibition was attended by the Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Nevine El Qabbaj, and Dr. Amr Talaat, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, with the participation of many associations that help people with disabilities and companies that support tools and assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
