The Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services continues to implement the activities of the “Volunteer for Yourself, by Yourself” initiative, which aims to attract young people and engage them in volunteer work, contributing to the development of their capabilities and strengthening their role in serving their communities.
As part of the initiative, the organization held an introductory meeting in Minya Governorate with the participation of 70 young men and women from different age groups and educational and professional backgrounds. Participants included final-year university students, university graduates, holders of intermediate-level qualifications, and employees from both the public and private sectors.
The meeting reviewed the origins and development of volunteer work, as well as the Coptic Evangelical Organization’s experience in this field and its efforts to establish a specialized unit for managing volunteer activities. It also presented the organization’s plan to expand the culture of volunteering across several governorates through the use of technology and social media platforms.
The meeting also outlined the different stages volunteers go through, from registration to integration into work teams, including capacity-building programs designed to develop personal and practical skills. These programs enable young people to perform their community roles effectively and contribute to their professional and personal development.
The meeting emphasized that the social, educational, and professional diversity among volunteers is one of the key strengths of volunteer teams. This diversity promotes the exchange of experiences and learning through dialogue and continuous interaction, thereby strengthening a culture of participatory learning and teamwork.
The meeting comes as part of the ongoing activities of the “Volunteer for Yourself, by Yourself” initiative, launched by the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services to promote young people’s participation in volunteer work and prepare capable individuals who can contribute effectively to the development of their local communities.
