Wheat Harvest in Delta Governorates as Part of the “Ezraa” Initiative
The governorates of Lower Egypt and the Delta have witnessed the beginning of the wheat harvest season as part of the activities of the “Ezraa” (Plant) initiative, launched by the National Alliance for Civil and Development Work with the support of the Ministry of Social Solidarity and implemented by the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS). The initiative aims to improve the living and economic conditions of small-scale farmers, as well as to provide key strategic commodities that help reduce import costs and enhance food security.
The initiative included a package of integrated development programs and services, such as:
Providing seeds at a 25% discount
Conducting field schools for farmers
Offering technical support from planting through to harvesting
Organizing health and veterinary convoys in several target villages
The harvesting process was monitored on the ground alongside farmers in the governorates of Lower Egypt and the Delta, with an emphasis on the importance of regular delivery to silos and storage facilities.
Farmers expressed their gratitude to the “Ezraa” initiative and its organizers, highlighting that technical support and ongoing follow-up contributed to higher production rates. They also thanked the National Alliance, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, CEOSS, and the agricultural directorates, stressing the importance of continuing the initiative to support and encourage farmers.
