Minya University launches the activities of the “Preserving Natural Resources Amid Climate Change” campaign in partnership with the Coptic Evangelical Organization.

As part of the presidential “Alliance and Development” initiative and to activate alliances of universities in the northern, central, and southern regions of Upper Egypt, Minya University launched the “Preserving Natural Resources Amid Climate Change” campaign in partnership with the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services. The campaign was inaugurated under the patronage of Dr. Essam Farhat, President of the University, and in the presence of Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Church and Head of the Coptic Evangelical Organization.

In his opening speech, the university president emphasized the importance of this campaign, which aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the national higher education strategy, incorporating principles of integration, community partnerships, and innovation. He commended the university’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship for fostering a spirit of innovation among students and contributing to solving local community issues in Minya Governorate and Upper Egypt.

Dr. Farhat highlighted the need to address climate change to mitigate its negative effects on natural resources, stressing the importance of using modern irrigation techniques to enhance agricultural productivity.

Dr. Iman El Sherif, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education and Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, explained that the center will provide specialized training for agricultural association members in Upper Egypt. The center will also hold a competition to select pioneering models in modern agriculture and natural resource preservation, with the winning project being adopted and implemented in the agricultural field.

Dr. Mohamed Fahim, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Director of the Climate Change Center, expressed his appreciation for Minya University’s initiative, which combines scientific knowledge with field expertise. He described the campaign as an important step toward preserving natural resources and expanding Egypt’s agricultural lands.

Magid Boulos, Director of Rural Development at the Coptic Evangelical Organization, thanked Minya University and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship for supporting the campaign. He expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and the fruitful collaboration in implementing these activities.
