The Directorate of Social Solidarity in Cairo, led by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Director of the Directorate, and the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, celebrated the World Environment Day, with the participation of the Arab Association for Human and Environmental Development, the Arab Council for Social Responsibility, and the Egyptian Union of Investors, at the headquarters of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services.

Many experts, academics, civil society institutions and the private sector representatives, and those interested in environmental issues and climate change, participated in the celebration. In addition to the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Director of the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Cairo; Professor Margaret Saroufim, Head of the Local Development Sector of the Coptic Evangelical Organization; Professor Dr. Rashad Ahmed Abdel Latif , Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Association for Human and Environmental Development; Dr. Sobhi Ibrahim Nasr, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Federation of Investors; Dr. Randa Rizk Fakher, Professor of Educational Media at Cairo University and Secretary General of the Arab Council for Social Responsibility; Prof. Dr. Lubna Mohamed Abdel Meguid, Professor of Community Regulation at the Faculty of Social Work, Helwan University; Prof. Dr. Hala Yousry, Professor of Urban Sociology; and Mr. Rafiq Nagy, Director of Developmental Sites at the Coptic Evangelical Organization were all present.

During the meeting, the experts discussed a number of themes, the most important of which are: “The role of civil society organizations and agriculture in the urban environment – green social work, handicrafts as an entry point for environmental empowerment of the youth, and initiatives and environmental social responsibility in the Governorate of Cairo.”
