Eye Health Program
The program aims at eliminating avoidable blindness by reaching poor and deprived citizens through providing access to sustainable comprehensive health care systems to ensure the best possible vision for citizens.
Quantitative Achievements
25669 citizens have benefitted from the interventions of fighting avoidable blindness
- 772 citizens had major and minor operations
- 2607 citizens benefitted from medical treatment
- 9807 citizens have had their vision corrected through providing them with eye-glasses
- 12483 citizens have had medical examinations
Qualitative Achievements
- Activating the role of community responsibility and mobilizing community resources to provide access to free eye health services for most vulnerable poor families. This included volunteering of a group of doctors in implementing ophthalmic campaigns and the National Hospital for Eyes conducting some surgeries for free
- Expanding the program’s geographical coverage in four new most vulnerable and poor areas in Qalyoubia Governorate
